Whew, sorry you feel that way. It comes off like, "if you're not with us, you're against us". And that's kinda closed-minded.
....
We have already spent 100s of years compromising with these closed-minded racists, misogynist, forced-birthers, homophobic, traitors / seditionists , selfish, christian theocrats, fascists/authoritarians people.

For a time things were progressing but for the last 40 years it has been a continuing regression.

Whew, sorry you feel that way. It comes off like, "if you're not with us, you're against us". And that's kinda closed-minded. We've all been wrong many times in life, and with a closed loop, not allowing for that possibility, is unhealthy and is what has caused a lot of our division. My personal opinion is that I see good arguments that get taken out of context by people on each end of the outer edges. And that, somewhere in a constantly moving middle, isn't a bad place to be.
A friend once told me something about a contract negotiation with one of the unions in Hollywood. He said, "after a good/fairly drawn up contract, neither side is happy". Both sides had to give in. Like you said, political fortunes swing back and forth, and it doesn't help when either side takes advantage, and doesn't try to work with the other, or listen to their perspective.

Fox News, Tucker Carlson, Hannity, OAN, Russia Today, Federalist Society, etc.

There is no mistake in context.

For a while in the past they sometimes hid their intentions but not anymore.
Nowadays they boast about it to everyone.

Really that is your example - union contract negotiations

The type where businesses commonly fire any workers for just thinking about union or doxxing, stalking, threatening with physical harm and many times actual harm.

Not a union case but still a good example
"6 eBay Executives And Employees Charged With Threatening Natick Couple"
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ebay-lawsuit-massachusetts-couple-employees-harassment-cyberstalking/

Just because political fortunes swing back and forth in the past is no guarantee of future results.
Based on history I do not expect a swing through dictatorship / fascism / authoritarians to swing back to democracy as easy as it is to get in to dictatorship / fascism / authoritarians.

U.S. has never been a 100% representative democracy to 100% of the people ever.

U.S. is a huge country but when I lived in the U.S. I found I could not live in 98% (by area) of it because I have higher risk of being killed. Now I would only live in U.S. cities and some suburbs. I have visited about 75% of the states in the U.S.
And yes I did in the past spent several years trying to live and work in the rural areas of several states. I don't visit U.S. national parks or state parks. Don't walk or drive in rural areas and only travel city to city by driving on Federal interstates or by plane.

Several times I had white police put their guns in my face and falsely accuse me of a "crime".
The only "real" crime I had committed was to walk on the sidewalk through a place it seems was only quasi-legal for me to exist in ( their sundown town ).
I never entered anybody's property, not even entered a store or even spoke to a single resident but I still had a loaded gun in my face.

So a racist wants to kill me so I should compromise that he gets to only half kill me?

A women who wants a dangerous pregnancy terminated should compromise with only getting half a termination or just die so a misogynist, forced-birther get to have control of the private life of another person.

A doctor who wants to serve all medical needs of women had better change careers as compromise with misogynist, forced-birthers.

A dictator wants to control the whole country so we compromise and let them rule over half of the people even if they do not agree?
Which half that do not want dictatorship gets sacrificed?

OK, do what?

One side that has a large population of U.S. voters is made up of haters, racists, misogynist, forced-birthers, homophobic, traitors / seditionists , selfish, christian theocrats, fascists/authoritarians ( against democracy), many want democrats dead, etc and a lot of ultra-wealthy and are OK with Russia/Putin state interference in U.S. election.

How do you compromise ?

When you compromise with them you eventually give them everything they want but just over a longer time period.

They control most of the traditional media and also new media (social media like Facebook, Twitter, etc).

I see no way to even attempt to convince these people to turn away from their evil paths especially when most of them already claim to be christian but do not act christian.
I have a little faith that 40% of the population is not all you mentioned above. They might be pro small government or anti abortion and they just go along with the rest with blinders.

Somehow we need to reduce the tribalism (us or them mentality). When you think this way it allows you to compromise your integrity. I am thinking a centrist party at the national level that pushes as much power to state and local government would help diffuse this a little.

But short of that or major social changes the center left needs to fight harder and not be so soft.

Team America on political division - very crude

There goes again the ignorant attribution bias and demonizing an economic system like democratic socialism, scaring gullible people instead of learning out it.

I would think these are the same parochial politics who are not even aware that year after year, the happiest and most secure people live in the democratic socialist countries of Denmark, Norway... collectively called Nordic countries, that's virtual no poverty, their free education at all levels, no one goes bankrupt for medical care with their single-payer health care system, and seniors have adequate pensions that no one had to eat cat food near the next cycle before they get the check from social security.

And yes, they choose high income taxes for the principles that we are indeed our brothers' keepers. That no CEO is paid more than 5 times an ordinary worker.

Wow, make a Monte Python concert reference and stir the "woke" pot. Perhaps political discussions should be a bit more tempered ... you know, like the social democrats. :)

Democratic socialism is an economic system, not politics. And I just said "learn" instead of accusing someone as woke. Yup, this edumacation is now free and I'll be collecting tuition fee later.

The real culprit is not political divisiveness, but globalisation and dilution of individual values, to the point no one loves themselves, because they have lost their own identity and are so desperate to belong they are happy to emulate anything that makes them stand out in a world of noise.

Celebrate diversity, not entropy.

If you don't love yourself, let alone know who you really are, and can't see what other people see of you, then what hope do you have to love someone else??

As a first step, feel free to only say things to me that you would also say to my face in person. Then consider how you would feel if I said that to you. Then see how we go.

All the name calling is exactly the bullying and coercive bias BS that gets us nowhere. From ANY side.

Take some time to know your fellow human. You will be better for it. Us too.

FUD noise. It's pervasive and constant. Watch Rob Mauer (at Tesla Daily) for a dose of truth in fundamentals. Regardless of the idiosyncrasies of its largest stock holder, Tesla is poised for a 50% growth rate even this year (it's going to be brutal for everyone else). Relax and get ready to finish spec-ing out your "insane technology bandwagon" reservation as production nears. I am. Slán.

Surprised to see the moderators are letting this topic turn into a political statement but since they have, I see choices as pretty simple for myself.
Fascism or democratic socialism
Autocracy or democracy
Asleep to truth or woke and seeking truth
Climate deniers or science supporters
The list goes on but most can see where I'm going. Like choosing BEV or ICE for reasons beyond self indulgence.
I'd love to see a return to government that actually goes to congress and reaches compromises on things that are meaningful to all Americans but it seems that Nationalism (think Putin, Hitler, etc.) is so popular with one side that anything less than that will not be to their liking. Do people really want a dictator installed in office that wants to throw out term limits and continue a lifetime rule like Putin has done? Count me out if that's your choice.

Actually, the history of business is littered with companies who just don't stick to that of what they know best and distracted by (fill the blanks here).

With Elon Musk, he just develop this snowflakishness and fetish for going to war with everyone out there. s if he can't stand it when someone is with him, above him or near him on his imagined topmost perch where his ego and narcissistic personality disorder resides.

Lol but they shut down the "Texas man offers Elon Musk 100 acres of free land to move Twitter's headquarters" thread without a single political statement. Maybe the filters aren't triggering notifications? Or maybe the bias is starting to seep through? ;-)

Let the countdown begin... 10, 9, 8

I reluctantly "liked" your post. As a white male, I don't think that I've ever read a more disturbing 1st person description of America as it is today. Unfortunately, I think you got it right.

I wonder if someone is actually monitoring or if there are trigger words that we can defeat with random characters. Let's try it. Tr$$p is a lyer.

I would content that most of our discussions that get political are about EV and EV adoption policy.
This all affects the CT in some degree or another.
