Put that body on a Tesla Model S Plaid platform and you would have a true "Hot Rod Lincoln".

Ultimate land yacht. I rode in one. Very smooth. If the front suspension was good enough you could build one hell of a battery box and do a convert.

Another fun project might be a 48 hrs style Cadillac . Then add a smoke machine to pretend like you were a reckless detective.

I am diversifying. I bought a little NIO and some more BYD on some dips. Picking up some RIVN is pretty tempting too, unless Ford and Amazon know something and that is why they are dumping it. Rivian makes a nice rig. The RS1 is also pretty unique in the foreseeable market.

Buying a bunch of other high risk growth oriented EV companies is not really diversifying a whole lot. Buying Apple or Google or Berkshire Hathaway. That is diversifying.

Berkshire is a fantastic sort-of diversification basket. It’s like a mini ETF before ETFs were a thing. They own tons of fantastic brands, plus 10% of BYD And a giant chunk of Apple. BRK hasn’t done as well as Tesla the past few years, but it is much more stable.

I don’t see Rivian’s competitive advantage. No doubt they make a nice truck, but it is a niche product. They don’t have a particularly strong manufacturing team, they are competing for the same batteries Tesla is buying in huge numbers (and unlikely to stop buying in huge numbers).

Great point. It is all in the EV segment. On the flip side we know EV volume will grow 100x in the next 10 years. It is mostly about who at this point will make the vehicles. Maybe what battery tech will prevail. BYD is probably a better bet than the other Chinese makers because they make their own batteries, and they appear to be really good. I probably would have forgone my NIO position if I had looked at them earlier.

Berkshire Hathaway is heavy into utilities and as a result anti roof top solar. They will be forced to retire natural gas burners early to bring on sustainable energy.

Pure EV companies have a huge advantage over any companies that have to transition.

I agree about Rivian and that is why I have not taken the plunge. Something is wrong there, but they could still turn it around. I hope they do.
