Yeah but they put one in Gypsum with a lower local population, which was my ultimate point. There is something more for how they choose where to place a SC... rather than just population alone.
The need.

i.e. Number of Teslas.
And probably from how busy the current servicing Service Center is. If it gets too busy and they need to build a new one.....

So then why stick one in Gypsum with 134K for surrounding local counties? The area surrounding it doesn't support that location from a population perspective. It would seem that Grand Junction would be a better place if population/need were the factor, no? Grand Junction's local population is 252K people (Mesa/Delta/Montrose/West Garfield counties) plus that doesn't count for Grand County/San Juan County/Uintah county in Utah which is right next door.

I was one of the first adapters of Tesla when it came out in 2012 with the MS and also for the MX. Since then I have moved onto other EVs - Porsche, Lucid and now Mercedes. I would have to say when Teslas were far from being common on the road, customer service were top notch. However, now they are plagued with what other car manufacturers are going through. Too many of their vehicles are on the road for them to keep up with. Tesla really needs to add more service centers to areas they sell the most to. Lastly, whoever in charged with customer service communication and a smile goes a long way with brand loyalty.

I have no idea, but there must have been some reasons.
Because it is on the Interstate, which generally means easier access.

I'm sure there are no Teslas in Aspen, that definitely couldn't be a reason.

They just added one to the Atlanta area this year.

Yeah but Aspen has a small population as does the Pitkin county corridor... so I am not sure thats it.

I think it may have more to do with real estate location and maybe local laws.... who knows. The last western Costco in Colorado happens to be in Gypsum. No Costcos until you hit SLC. I am not sure why. Maybe tax incentives? But Tesla seems to have followed a similar pattern as Costco... perhaps no relation at all, but its an interesting correlation.

Like you...I don't know either. But it sure would be nice to have something a bit closer than 3.5 hours from me :)

Does it go without saying that Tesla doesn't rate communications with people who are not yet customers lower than people who are?

Much better and more understandable than the dealership where I bought my Mazda: Where people who were already customers were given less priority than people who might buy something.

My county has 250K population with almost 1:10 Tesla ownership and I don't expect a Tesla service center here, ever.

PS dogwalk
edit: walk all over me
I kinda liked the phrase.

Been driving 100% Tesla for 7 years as well. I don't have any complaints with the customer service department. They communicate via the Tesla app fairly well, and I'd rather type than talk anyway.

I guess you don't do much sales, do ya? There is pre-sales and post-sales. Pre-sales is just as important because its called customer conversion. Giving a potential customer a crappy experience lowers the conversion numbers.

Its funny... when I call other car companies about information when I am interested in their vehicle, they have no problem getting me an answer and if they can't, they will find someone who does. With a call back.

You are comparing apples to oranges. You live 33 miles (or 30-40 minutes) from the nearest Tesla SC. I live 214 miles (3.5 hours) from mine. No... you will never see one because there is no need... you have a slew of them surrounding you.

Me thinks it would have opposite meaning.

Dog walking with other dogs following competing to butt-kiss him. :p
