They are there for people who are too lazy to figure out the basics of investing themselves. I feel like everyone should learn at least enough to do their own basic investing, but lots of people neglect it and want to just toss money at someone who will do it for them.Financial advisors and stock brokers are working because they need a job.
I find it pretty ridiculous how much more time people spend thinking about taxes and saving a few bucks on their taxes than their retirement.
Recommendations from many advisors are often more oriented towards asset protection than growth. People are a lot more forgiving of mediocre results than they are of losses.
A couple simple things I learned from the Motley Fool a long time ago:
- If you love a product and all your friends love it… it’s probably a good investment.
- The best investments are often the ones “experts” say are over-valued.
- AAPL
- AMZN
- GOOG
- TSLA
- etc etc…
PS: THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE!
PPS: Also… the above were all great stocks at one time. Some are great still. Do your own investigation.
