I agree there are many talented people working on the CT and Tesla. Telsa would live on without Elon and the CT will probably come out when it comes out regardless as to this Twitter BS.

That said on a macro level it is a distraction and potentially a drain on Elon's capital. As I understand it Tesla probably hasn't spent $3B on Giga Austin to date. That is 3 years of spending and planning and careful engineering and developing 1000s of employees. He dropped $3B on software, some user base (active???) and rented servers over a couple months. It just does not compute.

I have always liked Tesla because it is a physical product and a physical factory. While a company's worth is usually way more than it's assets at least there is a physical asset that would have to be recreated in order for competition to take over. Not so with Facebook and Twitter. (servers not with standing)
The difference between tangible and intangible assets. Always prefer tangible, especially from an engineering perspective. But not all humans operate that way, and often their capacity to distinguish between the two is compromised by their current circumstances or emotional state.

We are "herding animals", how we herd is sometimes not based on logic, and as such the only way to change that herding behaviour is by new information. If new information, and ideas based on them, can never make it through the herd for an analysis because the restriction on what speech is allowed, or is filtered to bias before consideration, by what method can we achieve meaningful and positive change of our own individual biases?

Can anyone name a circumstance where under our current system new information that was "true" or "needed" was censored? Sure it probably didn't or hasn't made it through the herd, but I would contend that the information is out there good or bad and has been voiced by someone.

It is all about the amplification and feedback mechanism of the SM algorithm. By nature many of us like drama and we like to be right, so the only thing that gets escalated is extreme points of view one way or another. The truth takes work and is specific to very narrow parameters. It will usually just sit there. (blah/boring/too much work to follow)

So far it appears that Elon is a purist, he will give everyone a microphone. This is great if there are volume controls otherwise it is going to get loud. Elon may think he can build a better volume control. This is really just another form of censorship. We have already seen that Elon is not perfect in this regard. He legitimized Joe Rogan who knowingly spread the ivermectin lie and people were harmed.

9/11 PBS day or two prior! News cycles got strangeā€¦

It was ā€œTruman Showā€ weird. Listening the narrative was energized yet inflective that I translated as tells. The standard news reporter reads script of ā€˜childrenā€™s bedtime story for adultsā€™ broke. In those weird breaks, a slice in seconds, the fourth wall sounded like the emperor had no clothes. The curtain was parting.

Day later that look back felt like a break in trust. PBS knew something they couldnā€™t contain. Thatā€™s the Fourth Estate.

What is the lie, and who has been harmed?

Voiced by many but published by none?
The effect is the same in that who controls the information flow controls the narrative.

If I wrote a book (which I'm sure most wouldn't read anyway!) but my publisher only made one copy, what effect would it have?

If only what sells gets published, then there is no metric for truth or good, just profit. Likewise humans inherent instinct to remember the bad but forget the good, as a survival mechanism, means the bad dominates the news cycle.

Doing that "commercially" means that is amplified because it sells. That is evident in all our news, especially lately, that is in the process of crushing the human spirit for lack of hope in a change to the better. It's just wave after wave of fear mongering, with Rome burning as the wolfs in sheep clothing cry wolf.

As EM says we need something that gets us excited for our future. Hope requires courage in the face of the mantra of fear.

ibtl

ibtl is a (childish) internet acronym that means "in before the lock" and is akin to hands in wet cement. Basically, a way to say "I was here" before the thread got locked/deleted.

The proof won't be found in more bias. The sides don't exist, both "sides" do it. Take your own side instead, you'll be better off for it.

Go to the mechanics of why many things exist or are promoted. Money.

If Tesla made the perfect CT, had unlimited range, a midgate, was the best shade of blue or red of your choice, had a bio defence filter mode that could get rid of COVID, but cost $1million each, what good would it do us mere mortals that can't afford it?

Identify who the master of your life is, and what choices he affords you, if you can't afford to pay for those choices what freedom do you really have?

New Social Media Company
Musk is right in not joining Twit board and having Twit CEOs suck out Musk and Tesla CEOs brains to rescue their dead and dying company. Twit BOD and their stock holders made a crazy bad move and with out Musks buy out and company overhaul Twit is a worthless dying social media company.
Maybe Plan B
Just take the $40 Billions and create a all new social media company. Lets call Twit2 or More Intelligent but Less Savage (MILS)

Apparently, according to the NY post and times, there are a series of court judgements relating to EMs going private comments for $420 that have been suppressed that should be realeased soon, and also new actions with restraining orders to stop EM from commenting on them.

Sounds like a real freedom of speech issue for EM.

Happy Easter!
