He's certainly not helping any, though. His sell-offs are suppressing the price, and his trolling is harming the brand. None of my friends are willing to promote Tesla technology anymore, and several won't even talk to me about space stuff, either. Because it reminds them he's provided a voice to bigotry against them.

So what you’re saying is MUSK SCREWED UP THE WHOLE MARKET!
I swear I am going to see a CNBC article in a few minutes with that as the headline and they are going to be citing this thread.

Very little of the stock drop is due to him being a troll, despite the narrative.

You're looking exclusively at the trend, and ignoring the absolute price of TSLA's stock.

You should estimate what you think the absolute price of TSLA's stock should be, and then determine if the market price is over/under what it should be -- and also look at the trend.

Looking exclusively at the trend only works with stocks where big cautious investors keep the absolute stock price in-line. TSLA is not one of those stocks.

But the market doesn't work that way. The vast majority of of investors don't price in growth. Which is why growth companies, even if they're dependable, are much more volatile.

You end up with the market fundamentals, and the push-pull between lucky go lazies and those who actually do their homework.

Which is why Amazon and Tesla trend line are so close. Both had higher PE ratio's than other equally large companies and suffered the same PE compression programs.

Made it clearer for a market amateur like me, that investment companies are striving for competitive quarterly results.
Their job is to have positive quarters in order to maintain and grow a customer base.

That's It.
If they can show a 5% overall return at the end of a quarter, for many of them, that is better than an overall 5% loss, but with a confident foothold on 2X in 12 months. Their customer staring at results knows nothing of that.

On the 25 Jan, Energy will appear in our books and raise eyebrows. We should see these guys jumping in.

So if you look at Bmw, GM and Ford, they all trade around 3 to 4 times forward earnings. Even at these levels, Tesla is trading at 33 times forward earnings, so even here they are getting a huge benefit from being looked at as something else besides a car company.

and the impossible really has happened people now don’t look at Tesla cars as quality cars they look at them for the recalls and all the problems that are reported in the main stream press which don’t like him anymore by the way.

I expect the stock to go under $80 a share.

The day I started this thread the stock was at $170. It will do what it does and I don't care. I will continue to hold it until I'm forced to take mandatory withdrawals per the IRS.

I will say, with everything Tesla is involved in, it should not be directly compared to any pure auto company.

I'm proud to be shareholder 222 times over.
Maybe I'll get a random invite to CT event someday...one can dream!

The problem with buying these huge dips on stocks that are down 50, or 70% is that there are a lot of sellers on the way back up that put pressure on new buying. That limits the ability for s stock to recover.

Yes, I was reading on social media about some people that are ready to jump off the bandwagon as soon as they can sell with no loss. If a lot of shareholders think like that, it could take longer to recover. But good thing I'm in it for the long haul (at least multiple more years).
