I'd be sorely tempted to drive on the lawn and landscaping to access charging if all the stalls were ICEd, especially if driving a high-clearance Cybertruck.

I say it's also possible Buc-ee's plans to put "EV parking only" signs up but just hasn't gotten them up yet. BTW - Painting a big green & white plug image on the ground (similar to the blue & white handicapped image) also works well.

I'm in the camp of - give the ICE drivers the benefit of doubt. It's possible they didn't know what a Tesla charger looks like and didn't realize they shouldn't park there. Yeah - unlikely but possible.

They wouldn't host Supercharges if they had zero motivation. Tesla owners often frequent even cheesy stores during charge time and so are good for business. Also, Tesla owners are mostly gainfully employed or financially able to buy/not steal products hence, good potential customers.

Any asshat that intentionally parks in a dedicated BEV space is probably not as good a customer as the BEV owner who, due to the necessary charging process, is held captive for 10-40 minutes.
Sure.

But if I own a business and I’m holding a big event, I’m not towing cars or passing out fines. It’s just bad business.

From the looks of the flags up, very possibly an opening event.

I’m not suggesting it is ok.

Just pointing out it is inevitable and that the stores have zero motivation to enforce this.

Don’t put chargers in attractive parking areas. There is a reason Handicapped spaces are in the close up spots. There is no reason charger stalls should be close to the front door.
Well, they're losing other customers from the one that's there. Is it a one for one replacement? More?

The number of people who might avoid them because they towed a badly parked car is probably not as big as the number who'd avoid them because they couldn't trust the chargers weren't blocked.

The Austin Cybertruck Club will patrol the streets, looking for ICEers. We will park one Cybertruck on each side of the offending vehicle, leaving about 1 inch of clearance.

I think people need to keep the context in mind.

This was an event, very possibly a grand opening. Looked like one person had camped in their car like retail nuts often do to save a buck.

Maybe you think putting on a big event only to end up with pictures on the front page of the local paper showing a fleet of tow trucks pulling 10 cars out of your parking lot is great publicity. I doubt most business owners do.

People need to think about the context here.

I think we can all agree that:
  1. ICEers have a special circle of hell waiting for them, along with HOA presidents, child molesters, and people who talk in the theatre. And...
  2. The video from Buc-ees was probably a one-off anomaly, and is not typical.

I do. Do you think they'd have left cars sitting in front of the gas pumps?

It says they're serious about making their customers happy.

Absolutely!!

I don’t think this is. Bunch of AH looking to piss off EV owners. It’s. Bunch of people who showed up for an event and needed a parking place.

You don't think?

This is what the nice lady who made the video had to say on Twitter:
" The store was busy, probably because it had just recently opened. There were lots of parking spaces available. In fact, as soon as our car was done charging, we moved to a regular parking spot and then did our shopping. My husband asked a few of those who parked in the charging spots if they were aware they were for EV’s and they all knew but said “who cares”. "

So, at least a few were Asshats.

People, here, on Twitter, everywhere. People love to vilify others and form righteous mobs based on little to no evidence.

There were flags. People camping in their cars and pretty clearly a big crowd.

It clearly wasn’t a normal Tuesday afternoon.

She was there, was respectful and honest with her comments. You didn't watch the entire video nor did you read the Twitter thread yet you form opinions based upon nothing but anecdotal data. Yikes!

Yeah I did twice. That’s where I saw the people literally camped in their car. And the crowds of people and the flags. Did you watch it?

Umm yeah ... and those people "sleeping in their cars" was actually an open tailgate with a pad for their dogs which were in the video.

I did see another video from the "event" where 2 hot girls were having sex on the hood of their F350 which was blocking a BEV spot, Did you miss that one?
