When I read that story. Some things didn't add up. The fund giving out the money has the name "Volkswagen" attached to it. Tesla gave a bid at 1/5th the cost, but got nothing. ?
It's not people math, it's politician math........Same state govt that wont allow direct sales.

Some of the other applicants include big names in the charging industry like EVgo, Chargepoint, as well as many big gas station operators.
As for VW, they had to pony not just a charging network, but also lump sums to each state for dieselgate,
