This is a great move for both Tesla and Ford. Both benefits for sure. Tesla will increase the number of stalls where need, they have all the data. I think eventually all EV maker will join in to use Tesla supercharger network with Tesla plug, built into there car/truck. More reliable then all other chargers for sure. The EV evolution continue!

The folks working at GigaFactory 2 in New York will love this news, since that is where they build the SuperCharger units. Hopefully, they will ramp up production even more to make the SuCs as ubiquitous as gas pumps in the future.

I honestly don't see this as a huge deal..
In the 1st quarter of 2023 ford sold 11,000 electric vehicles... tesla sold 181,000 so ford will add 10% to the user pool.. not a huge hit.

Good pr move though

that’s what we all thought until Elon recently said “It's gonna be hard to make the cost affordable”.

what did I expect? Something better than what’s been shown that’s for sure… I’ll wait for the actual reveal but so far not impressed.
He didn’t say “We CAN’T make it affordable“ he said it’s going to be hard to do it.

Notice the not-so-subtle difference there?

Not the way that I see it. Seems like v3+ just like the Ford announcement says.
This is some slightly old data (no 2023 - not sure if 2022 is partial).
18,025 below. Tesla first opened V3 stations in 2019.
Does that make sense?

Remember this?

Tesla Model 2 Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025! 922689

Ford was working on their own charging network already. Are they switching these units to have NACS now? If so, can I charge my Tesla at a "Blue Oval" charger?

Tesla should just build Ford-branded superchargers for them, since they've become quite efficient at it.

Seems like Ford will be required to build out their charge network in proportion to their EV customer base, as Tesla is doing.

I don't think Ford builds any of its chargers, home or otherwise

If Ford is going to change it's TN BEV platforms to the Tesla standard, I don't see them *not* using Tesla chargers for stations or home.

Who else would build them?

yea, with the looks of the CT and football field between steering wheel and the back of the windshield, might be a good option to charge at superchargers and at home without having to spend any money for chargers
A third party should design a bed for the CT dashboard, it’s so huge. I wonder how many pizzas you could store up there?

Seems like the wrong perspective to me as Ford just recently got out of the compliance EV building.

Look at Tesla early on:

So if Ford will now have NACS, CCS, and J1772 charging locations listed on their UI, maybe Tesla will as well? At least J1772. On roadtrips I have to use the plugshare app to look for J1772 charging locations in parking garages/etc. Would be nice if they are listed on the screen.

It is a solar oven for camping.
