  1. ? Rivian Adopts Tesla NACS Standard!

There are ~21,000 chargers in NA according to supercharger(dot)info. The busy chargers will still be reserved for Tesla and the other 12,000 can be opened up. I think things will be fine.
  2. 10 millionth 4680 cell produced at GigaTexas

I'm not above admitting I lack knowledge in this space. Is this something you know a lot about? Would love to learn more.
  3. 10 millionth 4680 cell produced at GigaTexas

Maybe? Wildly behind expectations. And still not at a rate to CT. What do you think their cells/week are now?
  4. 10 millionth 4680 cell produced at GigaTexas

I wish there was more transparency on the 4680 ramp. At this point I'm not convinced the CT will only be 4680 cells. 15 months to only produce ~12,000 MY of cells? And with no apparent advantage to 2170 cells after Munroe teardown? I really hope I'm wrong, but 4680 has been a disappointment so...
  5. Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025!

So if Ford will now have NACS, CCS, and J1772 charging locations listed on their UI, maybe Tesla will as well? At least J1772. On roadtrips I have to use the plugshare app to look for J1772 charging locations in parking garages/etc. Would be nice if they are listed on the screen.
  6. Ford EV will gain access to Tesla Superchargers and come with standard NACS ports starting 2025!

If I'm understanding correctly Tesla is giving access to 12,000 chargers and there are around 17,000 currently, so not all chargers? I'm curious how much, if any, Ford paid to gain access. Undeniably, the real losers of this deal are the other CCS networks and any manufacturer that isn't also...
  7. Master Plan 3 Coming March 1 on Investor Day

Yeah everyone expecting this to be a Cybertruck unveil will be disappointed. These types of events have never been about new product details. It's going to be about how to scale manufacturing with maybe a CT sitting in the back.
  8. Article: It's becoming increasingly clear Tesla is just another car company -- agree / disagree?

If there is one thing I have been disappointed in 2022 it's their inability to ramp 4680s with the ramp of Austin/Berlin. And the inability to reach 5k/week run rate as stated in earnings call. I think the 4680s will become something special, but so far a disappointment. As an investor it is the...
  9. What We Learned From Semi Launch

I don't think there's much to explain on 1, 2, 4, and 5. More excitement and speculation. 3. Semi battery capacity. The current website says 0-70% charging in 30min. A 1MW charging, that is around 640kWh. It's definitely less than the 2kWh/mile, but at 1.28kWh/mile, that does seem a little low...
  10. What We Learned From Semi Launch

I'm sure I missed a lot, but feel free to add your thoughts. Some is definitely speculation. 1. 1MW CT charging. Didn't expect it to be that high! It definitely goes back to the "what do you think this is, a children's toy quote". V4 rollout will likely happen quickly once CT is ramped, and...
  11. Am I the only person here who would like Elon to STFU? [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS]

It is unfortunate the number of people on this site that support Musk no matter what, but yet get mad at other prominent political figure's followers when they do the same. Hypocrisy is rich. It is possible to have the Elon who brings us the craziness of the CT while not tweeting baseless...
  12. Anti-EV idiocy

I've long held the belief that >80% of new vehicles sold in 2030 would be EVs. That was actually my bear case. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was over 90%. However, what I've increasingly seen over the last couple of years is how politicized EVs have become. It's unfortunate because it...
  13. Where to See EV Deliveries?

I feel like I go through this every quarter after Tesla announces their deliveries, but is there a website that shows every vehicle manufactures EV deliveries by quarter/month etc? It would be nice to see how other manufacturers are progressing with their deliveries other than reading random...
  14. Ford to build 600k EV's/yr by end of next year and has 2nd EV truck in the works

I don't know how Ford is going to be at a capacity of 600k by end of next year. Based on what I've heard from Farley and other executives: F150 Lightning: 150k Mach E: 200k E-Transit: 100k Total: 450k There are no plans for new vehicle lines that I'm aware of. The other troubling thing is look...
  15. Optimus Bot Future

Yeah, I think elons timeline of 2022 for fsd will be a couple more years, and if it's a couple more years for that, a robot will be even more.
  16. Optimus Bot Future

Genuinely curious honest question. What gives any of you faith this robot will be here in next couple years, let alone this decade?
  17. A Really Good Q4 Earnings Call Question

I think by 2024 they will be selling closer to 4 million vehicles/year, not 3 million. To Toni's point, can there really be that much growth with only 2 vehicles? (and let's be honest, there isn't that much of a difference between 3 and Y anyway). I don't believe you need 15 different models...
  18. A Really Good Q4 Earnings Call Question

Toni Sacconaghi "Elon, I was wondering if I could just follow up and ask. You talked about your product road map and also your goal to keep growing at 50% per year or better. That would put you at 3.2 million vehicles or more in 2024. And I think you made reference to Cybertruck maybe being...
  19. Popular Mechanics: Does Anyone Even Want an Electric Car?

I remember when the first iPhone came out I thought it was a stupid idea. Who in their right mind would spend $500 for a phone? How on earth would you look at the internet or maps on such a small screen? No one is going to want to look at their phone when they could use a computer instead. As it...
