Franz said he was working on an exciting project that wasn't in the normal transportation space. I guessed evtol aircraft, everyone hated that, although I think signs point to a battery energy density jump.
1000v architecture of CT must mean either a higher voltage cell or higher capacity cell or a really big pack plus the fact Tesla said high nickel batteries would be invented for CT.
I didn't mean to attack small engines, was only using internet research with a Investor day prediction that hackney bikes are a ripe target for electrification with a higher density cell as well. The idea being that a cast hackney might compete on price with a gas one.
Maybe it's as boring as an electric ship/train. Seems pretty simple to replace a deisel generator with megapacks and probably this is what would be made in Mexico.
Or a long range bus....

I agree I have not tested the CO2 emissions from small engine vs average car but the internet seems pretty sure about it.
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/01/060101155000.htm#:~:text=Motorcycles collectively emit 16 times,be published in the Jan.
Then the Internet is wrong. Basic chemistry rules. A certain number of Carbon atoms goes into the combustion chamber as a fuel, and comes out as CO2. A 5 hp engine will create CO2 based on the amount of fuel used, no different than a 300 hp engine.

Others have explained the inefficiencies and issues quite well here.

Riddle solved. The article you cited DOES NOT discuss CO2 outputs but the problems of 'dirty combustion'. Quoting, "Motorcycles collectively emit 16 times more hydrocarbons, three times more carbon monoxide and a “disproportionately high” amount of other air pollutants compared to passenger cars, according to a Swiss study to be published in the..."

A super affordable, simple, off road capable, multi seat bus (12+) with some cargo space based on the CT "box" design might work as an option as well, especially if you can keep it around the $30-40k mark. It's very common for poorer nations to carshare, often they are just sitting in the back of even new pickups, but having an affordable bus would work better. Not sure how the charging infrastructure will go, but in urban areas there will at least be options.

I have never been a fan of two wheel bikes, but honestly 4 wheelers are dangerous too. Ours now come with rollover bars and look dorky as. I wonder what they will do with the cyberquad here. Might as well make an enclosed cabin on a trike.

But didn't Tesla just enter Thailand and talks with India are ongoing.... What both of them really want is an affordable electric tuktuk

I have two electric bikes, one will do 20+ miles and the other 30+ on a charge. In my opinion neither (and hence the entire concept) is not ready for prime time in terms of a place like Jakarta. 70-100 miles range and two / three wheels would be very attractive as city utility vehicles.

Needs to be tadpole style three wheeler with 2 wheels in front, one in rear to be stable and safe, especially under braking. Single cast body means you can make it any shape you want, so stainless cladding is useless extra parts.

Also, Musk doesn’t like 3 wheel vehicles.

I think a Tesla “Tuk Tuk” looks closer to this.

If you read what is said .... "Small engines are by far the most polluting / using a lawnmower for 1 hr emits the same CO2 as average 100 mile car trip" you would see that at no point have I tried to imply anything other than polluting and I even admitted that I have not personally tested the gas mileage of a lawnmower. Of course a small engine cannot magically produce carbon and literally the higher CO must mean less CO2 in a 4 cycle engine, but this is besides the point. Are small engines ripe for electrification?
Could Tesla produce an economicly viable tuk tuk ?

but then you can’t call it ‘cybertuk’

don’t let facts get in the way of a good marketing lift

Did not mean to be overly picky or offensive, let's leave it, the article makes sense and is a good reference.

You asked Are small engines ripe for electrification?

I've got a chainsaw and a blower, 60v Dewalt brand rather high-end things. Both are, in my opinion, great for a homeowner but grossly overpriced. The blower will run for a solid 20 minutes, and the chainsaw will cut about a half cord on one charge. In other words, both will work for about as long as I want to be using them. But clearly, they're not suitable for lawn crews or larger jobs of any sort. No frikking way!!!

The hidden greatness of these is that I can leave them in the car, in the house, anywhere ... without stinking it up with gas fumes. And that's a huge deal; it's a total change of the concept of owning and using these from (A) devices that are kept away from the main house, in the back bed of the truck rather than the front seat, etc. TO devices that are fine anywhere you park them.

Sure, there's a little issue with the chain saw lube oil, but in truth, I have not seen a single spot where it was left sitting. Go figure.

So the answer is Yes and No, and "It's different."
