Zero Electric motorcycle

Cypher is the name of the code base that Zero uses. Cyber and Cypher have the same root, the Arabic word for zero. A cypher is also a formula or algorithm that results in zero, in other words, no errors. Cyber was coined in the 1980s to represent the world that is run via cyphers.

I'm not sure when Zero started using it as a name for their code, as their code is adapted from an electric forklift driver codebase. My motorcycle, a 2014 Zero S, is a Cypher II based model. They introduced Cypher III with the 2020 SR/F in 2019.
