This is why GM needs ads and Tesla doesn't...

If a product is good enough you don't need an advertisement.

Isn't it because Tesla doesn't give enough information and people are looking for it online?
GM gives to much info and adds, so no need to look for it?

GMs advertising had pretty much zero information content. They were all about the feelz not the deetz.

Most advertising is more about emotions and brand awareness than actual product features.

Also, mentioned in that video, Elon said he would do an interview with Rob and Dave Lee which is awesome. They are good interviewers.

Rob yeah, but not sure how good of an interviewer Mr. Roth is. He's definitely lost his mojo, like a LONG TIME AGO.?

Ironically, the $ millions spent by legacy auto for MSM advertising could instead be used for increased innovation, quality, and features such that the products would be much better and more self-promoting like Teslas.

But that requires forward thinking and sincere belief in the innovation potential to start with, instead of just stagnant marketing focus and crony corporate distribution like legacy auto has been doing for decades.

Elon and the Tesla team knew from the start over 15 years ago, that EV innovation would require serious honest optimization to get awesome cars viable within constraints. It would've made zero sense for them to optimize awesome electric vehicles with all the physical and chemical parameters, and then turn around with a sloppy business model rupturing their continual and future innovation resources. That would've been anti-sustainability for the company. If Elon and Tesla were going to be smart good stewards of energy and manufacturing resources, then it's obvious to me they'd easily be smart enough to avoid a legacy auto business model.

I don't want to subsidize the MSM or car dealer sales managers lifestyle living in their upscale homes and taking cruises every time I would buy a car, because they contributed nothing to the car's substance at all.

IMHO the reason major car manufacturers need animadverting and electric do not.. is completely different.

ICE cars are in a product saturated market; If every ice car factory produced at 100% capability more cars would NOT be sold; instead they would simply build up inventory. there is the capability to make more ice cars than the market can purchase; so the only way Ford can increase ICE sales is to steal a sale from another maker.

Electric cars on the other hand are supply limited. The world is incapable of making enough cars in each price range to satisfy the demand.. other than the ultra high price range. So in short Tesla doesn't have to advertise because they can't yet meet demand for electric cars.

Just looked and compared the Ford lighting and Tesla Cybertruck.

Both trending closely to each other. Ford stronger in US, Cybertruck close, but stronger everywhere else. Good sign for Ford, but a fair slice could go to CT.

Btw, Maybe not surprising (but I was) In AU the most searches recently are from the Northern Territory.

In Asia, Chinese manufacturers have more of a reach than they do in U.S. When Tesla decided to advertise, it did not mean they had inferior product. It only meant they considered, it may cost them less than further price cuts. Besides, not all ads are created equal. You can pay your cousin to creat a video and post it on twitter or pay an expensive ad agency and play it during Super Bowl half time. If Tesla is smart enough to experiment in every other aspect of their business, they won’t dismiss advertising until they try it and it proves to be ineffective.

I agree.

Also, the legacy manufacturers aren't known for their electrics. So when they do release them, they have to get the customers to ask for them (and so their dealers will carry them).
