Nah, actual USB and Qi chargers in public spaces. People were "skimming" the USB chargers and stealing data from Androids with low security.

I've also had fun putting NFC sticker in random places to drive peoples' phones to fun stuff such as birdsarentreal.us .

I think if someone is truly in an emergency situation at a public EV charger, they should be able to call a number and have an operator assist them. But having chargers with screens and card readers just adds up to more things to break, with a higher cost that slows adoption.
Again, how do they call without a cell phone?

The Californian law will mean that you can just have a payment kiosk over in the corner of the lot to handle these other situations. You don't need it on every stand. It'll help adoption by allowing non-rich people (who encounter these edge cases more often) access.

That was a joke. And probably an old person joke; that's from a pretty famous old TV show.

We have a ways to go before we have to standardize on the outlier cases, and I'm confident we will come up with multiple good solutions. Tech gets better every day. A simple NFC reader can readily solve this and NFC can be used with all sorts of cards. Blink already does prepaid; this is already accessible to people of any economic ability or disability.

I am agreeing with you and building on the idea that we have solutions.
