Hi Everyone,
This is just a formal introduction from all of us at Mountain Pass Performance. Many of you may already know us if you've modified a Tesla before - specifically if you've modified it for additional performance (hint: that's why we have "performance" in our name) ?
In addition to making some of the most popular brake and suspension upgrades for the Model 3 and Y platform, we also have a history of building and racing cars, and working with racing teams both on-road and off-road. We're proud to leverage our background of pushing vehicles to their ultimate limit, and applying that to the design and development of custom aftermarket parts.
An example of our experience is best summarized with our in-house development racecar, named "KERS Kels". Kels is an almost vintage 2003 Nissan 350z, but has become one of the fastest privately built racecars in North America.
Powered by a naturally aspirated V6 engine, we've also designed our own hybrid electric system in-house - the two combine to make almost 700 horsepower at the wheels, which isn't bad considering the weight of the car! The bodywork is all carbon fiber and custom designed and one-off for this vehicle. The entire underbody of the car is covered in carbon fiber panels and diffusers to manage every bit of air that touches the vehicle.
Just about everything about Kels has been done here, from the fabrication to the software to the custom high-voltage battery. At the time of writing the car has the "production" car lap record at Laguna Seca, and has won many unlimited Time Attack events, despite the car being more of a "GT" style vehicle with about half the power of many other Time Attack cars.
If you're interested, you can read more about Kers KELS here
We also offer our services for one-off EV conversions, software, and electronics to OEMs and Tier-One suppliers, in fact we've been involved in a number of truck projects as well, and we're proud that our small company is selected for these types of projects. We learn a ton and it is very rewarding to know that our knowledge and experience are valued.
As we're based in Toronto, Canada - that meant getting our hands on a Cybertruck wasn't easy. Thankfully we've been able to get one for development purposes, and we're looking forward to creating parts that make sense and improve the fun you have with your truck. Whether that's on-road or off, for show or competition - our goal is to make you love your vehicle more than you already do.
Having worked in the aftermarket and repair side of the business for many years, we understand that aftermarket parts often don't fit the way they should, aren't supported the way they should be supported, and sometimes don't work the way they are supposed to work. It's always our goal to make products that install like the OE component but with enhanced performance and adjustability. I invite you to read some reviews about MPP to see whether that's all BS or whether we mean it.
The products we develop are mostly all made in Canada, and machined at our state-of-the-art machine shop in the province next door. We've just added in-house anodizing to our line of 5-axis CNCs, multi-spindle, multi-turret lathes, along with a number of other state-of-the-art machines that allow us to make your parts at the highest quality and efficiency to compete with overseas prices.
We don't believe you should buy from us just because we're based in North America. We want to earn your business by providing the best value - that means a reasonable price for an extremely high-quality product - sold and supported by people who actually know how the parts work, how to install the parts on the vehicle, and how to give the best advice for YOUR specific desired use-case, WITHOUT trying to upsell you on more than you actually need.
At this time the only Cybertruck product we have complete and ready for pre-order are our Mega Terra forged wheels. These wheels were designed and developed here, but are manufactured by Braid - a company with an extremely long history in off-road racing and performance. Braid is based in Spain and they are great people to work with!
You can learn more about these wheels by visiting the forum thread here
That's about all the self-promotion I can handle without some vomit starting to come up, so please feel free to say hi and ask any questions you may have about us, the Cybertruck, or our future plans!
