OK, I must confess that as a kid I dreamed of someday having my own rat rod. I loved the creativeness of the various individual designs. The engineering that went into creating structures that were so exaggerated but could still be driven. And having Hotwheels equivalents always helped.
But a big part of the rat rod was often the exposed ICE out front. Sure it was supposed to be big and beefy. With exposed exhaust systems. And a nice sound of the motor turning. And while the passenger "compartment" could be very creative, in many ways the exposed engine was almost a requirement.
So then we get to EVs. For those who love to do mods on their vehicles, what do you think will be the rat rod equivalent? Sure, people can already create wild vehicles. And especially with the electric sleds being promised by multiple companies the creativity on the passenger "compartment" could be almost anything. But I just can't imagine anyone getting excited about a custom vehicle that is built on a standardized sled. At least not as excited as I was about the rat rods. And without the big engine out front, it would just seem like something is missing.
Does anyone have any great ideas for a custom EV that would look cool and creative but also emphasize the strengths of it being an EV? What kind of custom car would you like to see (if not wanting to actually own it)?
