Your second point " • Federal purchase credit incentives for EVs paid for by all of us (in US), for years" refers
I don't understand the point you are trying to make. The previous incentive to which you refer applied only for the first 200000 vehicles sold. Both GM and Tesla passed this mark...
"Tesla better be getting paid adequately for supercharger use by other brands"
Yes they are.
They are getting a fortune in Federal funds to expand the existing charging network.
We are getting the network hugely enlarged by courtesy of Federal funding.
Yes, we will have to share with other...
Yes and no. Tesla are the ones with the factory building charging stations. Look at the stats on new charging stations coming online. Tesla produce so many more charging stations than all the others so, just like in EVs, the others are trying to play catch-up with a runaway train. Tesla won't...
This is a very big deal for Tesla. Imagine one manufacturer having the lions share of all the equivalent of "gas stations". Don't underestimate the significance for Tesla. To be the main player in the recharging business of all EVs is a mega big deal in the years ahead.
I haven't seen any ads where they even mention that the vehicle has FSD or the performance boost. I would definitely pay extra for those features if I were shopping for a used Tesla.
I paid 7k for FSD for my Model 3 and I'm OK with that. I wouldn't pay more than that.
What ticks me off is 2 things: firstly, it stays with the car and secondly it doesn't seem to add 1 cent to my resale value. Ditto my 2K performance upgrade.
I reserved my CT with the 7K FSD and trust Tesla...
I bought at 1100.00, 1090.27, 1093.24, 1078.00, 1044.57, 1031.00, 1000.50, 988.00 993.98, 982.50, 977.27, 863.5, 863.01, 863.02, 864.64, 876.40, 899.53, 875.01, 870.50, 750.00.
Talking about trying to catch falling knives!
I am now sitting on the sidelines watching. This is my Cybertruck money...
I am with you on this. I ordered fsd @ $7K. At $12K I don't want it.
I have fsd on my Model 3 and I am happy with it @ $7K.
Until it is genuine level 4 it is not worth the extra $5K to me.
But if you charge at home you start each day with a full "tank". Teslas with a range of at least 300 miles (real world maybe 220 miles) is more than any Mom shuttling kids to and fro could possibly use in a day.
If I need to tow a trailer with garden refuse to the tip or collect the new fridge I bought at Lowes, a Model X, 3 or Y are perfect because I am probably not going to do more than about 15 miles round trip and these vehicles are massively powerful so towing is a breeze. If I want to tow a...
People use their cars to tow jetski's, scramblers, small luggage trailers, sail boats and small motorboats. Unfortunately there is no EV that is any good for long haul towing. It seems like 80 miles is about all the range you get. The actual pulling power is no problem because EVs have the power...
I am surprised that the EVs poor towing performance is not listed as a reason for returning to ICE.
I must agree that if I didn't have at home 240V charging I would not want to own an EV.
GM invested sweet b-all!
They got given the share of Nikola free, gratis and for nothing!
Just for legitimizing Nikola by undertaking to supply the tech and everything other than the silhouette of a truck called a Badger. What's more Nikola still pay GM nearly 3/4 billion dollars to set up the...
I think you should not put Rivian and Nikola in the same basket.
Nikola is a scam. They have nothing but renderings and a few fake proto-types whilst Rivian have actually made working proto-types and have production facilities and major backing from Ford and more especially Amazon. I have...
My guess is that this gets GM into large scale production of EVs without having to market that EV as a direct competitor to their ice pick-ups and through their dealer network. They still need their ice vehicles to survive and to recoup their investment in ice. When the time is right they will...
